We have reviewed/sampled/tested many products in our quest to discover and advise on the best naturally derived skin and hair care products during the past year. This month we will be starting a quarterly post we are calling “REPEATS”. It occurred to us that many of the products we have reviewed have become staples in our skin and hair care regimens. We have purchased them numerous times and can’t imagine not having them on hand.

Today’s blog will be one of 4 post this week covering skincare, hair care, make-up, and multi-purpose product REPEATS we have loved during the past year. We will also include links to the products and you can try them yourself and tell us what you think!

First up are our SKINCARE PRODUCT REPEATS!

Leeanni Eco 3 in 1 REVOLUTION Light is the product that gave us the idea of doing a “repeats” series because we were online buying our umpteenth bottle! There is a common adage that people with acne-prone and or oily skin should avoid oil-based products like the plague. This toner-serum-moisturizer all-in one product completely debunked that claim and sent us on the hunt for more information about why a product chock full of oils did not cause breakouts nor did it leave the skin feeling heavy and greasy. It’s all about the type of oils used. Heavy oils like olive, coconut, castor or avocado are comodogenic. While oils like grapeseed, hazel seed, rosehip, and safflower are not; in fact, they have a lot of benefits for oily acne-prone skin. The Leeanni Eco 3 in 1 REVOLUTION comes in two formulations: the original and the light. The original does wonders for dry-to-normal skin; while the light is great for combination-to-oily skin.

Osmia Organics Spot Treatment is a product we've raved about several times before. This is an awesome product for sensitive skin and dry skin or anyone suffering from acne scars or hyperpigmentation. It comes in a small bottle and you only need to apply a small amount to trouble areas. Be patient and over time you will see those dark spots fade and that pesky pimple diminish. This organic acne treatment contains evening primrose oil, essential oils of lavender and lemon. Unlike other acne treatments it does not dry your skin out and its pleasant aroma is one of the most refreshing parts of our morning routine.

Klairs Supple Skin Toner and the Klairs Sugar Scrub are from the Korean brand Klairs that caters to sensitive/problem skin with naturally derived products. The toner is denser than most toners and as such it is not necessary to put it onto a cotton pad first. You can pour some into your hand and apply it right to your face without worrying about wasting product; letting the warmth of your hands aid in absorption. It is truly our favorite moisturizing toner and has been a staple for a little over two years. The sugar scrub is like the icing on the cake once a week; tough enough to sloth off dead skin cells but gentle enough not to cause micro-tears in the skin. The shea butter, cranberry seed, and black sugar mix leaves the skin supple, rejuvenated, and moisturized.

Vitamin C 21.5 Serum is an essential, maintenance, skin care product. In fact, vitamin C in general is essential to any healthy skincare regimen. This brand just happens to be our current favorite! It prevents black heads and over time helps to lighten hyperpigmentation, evening the skin tone and improving the texture. Like other vitamin C products, it is best to use it at night as it can make your skin hypersensitive in the sun. If you do use it during the day, make sure you follow up with a sunblock or moisturizer with an SPF of at least 30. This is not a quick fix product but rather one that brings rewards over time. Rome wasn’t built in a day!

Holika Holika White Wine Sleeping Mask is a new love acquired during our skincare shopping extravaganza last Christmas in South Korea. After the emptying the first tub we were ecstatic to find out that this mask is easily available in the U.S. Like the vitamin C serum, white wine contributes to the brightening of dull skin but more than that this mask locks in moisture throughout the night and you wake to spa quality supple skin. The concept of a “sleeping mask” might be new to some of you. It is exactly as the name suggest, a mask you do not remove. The Holika Holika Wine Sleeping Mask has a milky gel like consistency with a soft luxurious cool sensation when you massage it into your skin. The Holika Holika Wine Sleeping Mask comes in a white wine and red wine formulation.

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive has been a part of our regimen for several years. It is a fruit enzyme peel that you can use at home. It’s key ingredients includes all 4 of common AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids): malic acid from green apples, citric acid from lemons, tartaric acid from grapes. AHAs even the skin tone and texture and reduces hyperpigmentation. It also contains vitamins A, C, and E; with organic aloe to soothe. This is used once a month or any time we feel like our skin could use a little extra rejuvenation or if we are just in the mood for a spa day! More often than not this is during the winter months when the cold, dry air wreaks havoc on our skin.

PIXI Glow Tonic is also a new favorite that we have been using since January. We are obsessed with it! Check out this review of all the PIXI “skintreats” we have fallen for this year.
