Natural Body Lava on Keratosis Pilaris

We feel the best when our skin looks great, but there are some things that can hinder how you feel about your skin. One thing we struggle with is Keratosis Pilaris. You might be wondering what the heck that is, and the reality is that it is basically like having freckles or acne on your skin.

It is a very common skin condition caused by the overproduction of keratin. When the keratin blocks the hair follicle, the result is typically small bumps, similar to acne and typically darker in color than the skin.

We are loving all of the bronzing and body lava products that are out this summer, but wondered how they would look on our skin. So, we set off to find the best, and by best we mean safest and cleanest products on the market. These are our picks for our favorite natural dupes to the most popular bronzing and glow products this summer. Bonus: they even look good on our textured skin!

The average ingredient in the PUR Cosmetics Bronzer is 1.5 on EWG Skindeep vs the Sol de Janeiro average ingredient at a 3.0 score .   The Sol de Janeiro Oil contains limonen, benzyl salicylate, citronellol, benzyl alcohol and coumarin, which are mostly known allergens. Both products are actually pretty good, but we would recommend PUR for anyone who has sensitive sk in or who wants easier application. The Sol de Janeiro is more of a liquid and the cap is not as user friendly for application.

Natasha Denona Face Glow Cream Shimmer → Pinch of Color Honey Glow Waterless Balm

The Natasha Denona Face Glow Cream Shimmer contains talc and retinyl palmitate . Talc - great potential for cross-contamination with asbestos , a proven cancer causing substance (carcinogen). There is limited evidence to suggest that asbestos-free talc, used in cosmetics (excluding those used in the genital area) cause cancer. That said, if you are concerned about the potential danger, we recommend avoiding talc; especially considering that there are many alternative products that do not include this ingredient. Retinyl Palmitate - typically used as a skin conditioner. Scientific studies show this ingredient speeds the development of skin tumors and lesions. According to the FDA it is a known human reproductive toxicant.
