More Yogurt Please! Hair and Skin DIYs

Yogurt can accelerate growth in slow growing hair. The protein content in yogurt provides nourishes and strengthens the hair without making it dull or dry. The zinc and lactic acid in yogurt also also stimulates blood circulation. It’s anti-fungal and antibacterial properties allows it to be a great natural cleanser that soothes the scalp , removes dandruff, and reduces itchiness. Vitamins B5 and D reduce hair fall.

Yogurt is also great for your skin. It will help moisturize, fight acne, prevent premature aging, relieve sunburn, and reduce discoloration. The lactic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), helps to dissolve dead skin cells and tighten pores. Yogurt masks are also an effective treatment for Keratosis pilaris, and may be mixed with honey for more intensive exfoliation.

Yogurt and Honey Hair and Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 1/4 cup raw organic honey

  • Optional: 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Directions:

Combine all of the ingredients together. Work the mask onto your hair, from the scalp to the ends. Give your scalp a good massage - you want the mask to cover your scalp. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes. Wash as normal. If you use conditioner, just a small amount on the ends will do. Do this treatment once a week to restore and maintain your hair. This mask can also be used on your skin. Mix as described above and leave on the skin for 15-20min. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry. Continue with your rest of your skin care routine.

Notes:

For longer hair, just double the amounts of ingredients you use.

Yogurt and Strawberry Hair and Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 3-4 strawberries

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

  • 1 egg

Directions:

Combine all of the ingredients together. Work the mask onto your hair, from the scalp to the ends. Give your scalp a good massage - you want the mask to cover your scalp. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes. Wash as normal. If you use conditioner, just a small amount on the ends will do. Do this treatment once a week to restore and maintain your hair. This mask can also be used on your skin. Replace the coconut oil and egg with 1 tablespoon of honey, mix well, and leave on the skin for 15-20min. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry. Continue with your rest of your skin care routine.

Yogurt Fenugreek Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds

  • Optional: 1 teaspoon olive oil

Directions:

Soak fenugreek seeds overnight. Grind the seeds in the morning and mix it with yogurt. Apply the paste to your scalp and hair. Leave it in for 30min and rinse with lukewarm water. Wash as normal. If you use conditioner, just a small amount on the ends will do. Do this treatment once a week to restore and maintain your hair.

Yogurt and Oatmeal Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon plain Greek yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon finely ground oatmeal

  • 1 teaspoon raw organic honey

Directions:

Wash your face and neck with warm water and an oil-free cleanser to remove makeup and open pores. Apply a thick coat of the blend to your face, neck, and chest (feel free to double or triple to recipe if needed). Relax for fifteen minutes and let the mask dry. After fifteen minutes, wash off the mask using lukewarm water and a soft washcloth. Gently scrub in circles to remove all the sticky honey. Rinse your skin one more time with cool water to tighten pores. Pat dry with a soft, clean towel.

Yogurt Cocoa Anti-Ageing Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons plain Greek yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon raw cocoa powder

  • 1 teaspoon raw organic honey

Directions:

Combine all of the ingredients together. Leave on the skin for 15-20min. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry. Continue with your rest of your skin care routine.

Notes:

Add 1 teaspoon of finely ground coffee to tighten your pores and reduce oiliness, puffiness, and swelling. Not a fan of coffee grounds on your face? The you can add a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg for a similar effect.

Honey & Rose Yogurt Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 6-7 fresh rose petals

  • 2 tablespoons rosewater

  • 1 tablespoon plain greek yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon Manuka honey

Directions:

Crush rose petals in a bowl/food processor and add rosewater, yogurt, and honey and mix well. Wash your face and neck with warm water and an oil-free cleanser to remove makeup and open pores. Apply the mask to your skin and leave it to dry for 10-15min. Rinse the mask off with lukewarm water followed by cool water to close your pores. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel to finish the process. Continue with your rest of your skin care routine.

Green Tea & Yogurt Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • 1.5 tablespoons dry finely ground oatmeal

  • 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon raw organic honey

  • 3 tablespoons strongly-brewed green tea

Directions:

Add apple cider vinegar and oats to bowl/food processor. Mix well and let sit for 2-3min so that the apple cider vinegar is absorbed by the oats. Then add the remaining ingredients and mix until you have a smooth paste. Wash your face and neck with warm water and an oil-free cleanser to remove makeup and open pores. With clean fingers, apply the paste to the skin of your face, neck, and décolleté. Wait for 15min to let the mask harden and do its work. Remove the mask with lukewarm water and a soft washcloth. Finish the process by splashing cool water on your skin to close pores. Pat skin dry with a clean towel. Continue with your rest of your skin care routine.

Turmeric & Yogurt Anti-Inflammatory Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric

Directions:

Add ingredients to bowl and mix well. Wash your face and neck with warm water and an oil-free cleanser to remove makeup and open pores. Massage the mixture into your skin using small circular movements, and then relax for 15min. Rinse your skin, first with lukewarm water, then with cool water. Pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Continue with your rest of your skin care routine.
