PIXI Skincare to the Rescue!!
After extensive travel and sudden climate fluctuations your skin can really decide to rebel on you. What’s a girl to do? Start with a clean slate or at least a well exfoliated one! After 4 months of use we are raving about PIXI products. All of the products in this skincare line have 5% glycolic acid, which might be a little aggressive for certain skin types. So we advise patch testing first. If there are no adverse reactions, then begin using the products every 2-3 days; slowly building up to more frequent use.
Glycolic acid is what is commonly referred to as an AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) and are found in many skincare products. It is naturally derived from sugar cane and considered the safest form of AHA. It is a natural exfoliator. It safely removes dead skin cells, brightening and evening the skin tone. It can gently lighten skin discoloration from sun spots or acne. This should not be confused with skin “whiteners/lighteners” because that is not what it does. The skin appears brighter because the tone is even and the texture is softened.
It is beneficial for those with oily acne-prone skin, as it helps regulate sebum production and heal acne scarring. Glycolic acid is also beneficial for those with excessive dry skin, as regular use will ensure that the dry skin is removed with greater frequency.
We used the following products from the PIXI line of “skintreats”.
Glow Mud Cleanser
Claims: “This active yet gentle cleanser with 5% glycolic acid exfoliates to reveal a glowing, healthier-looking skintone. Mud deep cleans & detoxifies pores while hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, and avocado oil plump & nourish the skin. Leaves complexion feeling smooth & purified.”
Our Review: We loved using this product day and night but found that we saw the most benefits using it after removing makeup in the evenings. It is a great way to still get a deep pore clean without manual exfoliation (i.e. using a brush like the Clarisonic). On the PIXI site, it is recommended that you leave the cleanser on for a minute or two to allow it to really sink into your pores. We tried both ways and couldn’t agree more. The light tingling sensation lets you know that it is going to work, cleaning out every impurity. Your skin feels cleansed but hydrated.

Our Review: We see why this one is a consumer favorite! After the very first use our skin felt clean and baby soft. Over time we saw less discoloration, decreased occurrence of acne (even during the hormonal weeks of the month!), and an unbelievably supple texture. This is a great year-round skin maintenance product.

Glow Mud Mask
Claims: “Stimulate, clarify, and brighten skin with this revitalizing mask. The mineral-rich treatment absorbs oil, draws out impurities, and fights breakouts while giving an energizing boost to the complexion. Kaolin & sea salt purify while ginseng & aloe vera balance.”
Our Review: Think of a vacuum pulling out all of the impurities in your pores, then shrinking them! That would be the best way to describe the Glow Mud Mask. Although its like a hoover for your pores, it doesn’t leave your skin with that parched tight feeling. We used this 1-2x a week to maintain decongested, bright skin.

Claims: “This intense moisture gel delivers a burst of hydration to skin. The cooling formula with encapsulated water immediately rehydrates while plumping & stimulating complexion. Lightweight and enriched with green tea, aloe vera and rosemary to protect & heal.”
Our Review: This product is aptly named! Don’t let the light gel like consistency fool you; this moisturizer leaves the skin feeling very hydrated and works well for those with sensitive extra dry skin. For our readers with oily skin, a little goes a long way and might be best used in the dryer winter months or if you live in a dry climate. You might find it too heavy for you.
